Your Place in Line

Your Place in Line

Proverbs 10:21 says, “The lips of the righteous feed many.” In the previous two devotionals, we’ve talked about how the Scriptures not only encourage us and give us hope, but they also teach us lessons on how we should live as God’s people in the time of the end.

Even though sin and iniquity ravaged the earth, God has always had a holy line of people who would walk with Him closely, and they were ennobled by relationship with God. Their purpose and mission was to develop a character of righteousness so that they could teach not only the people of their time but be an example for the people of the future as to what true godliness looks like.

Only a few of those people were mentioned in Scriptures, but God had a people in every generation that would walk close with Him. This developed righteousness and close walk with God was not something that they could do by themselves, but it was purely accomplished by trusting in the Word of God.

Enoch was pure and trusting in God, even in a generation where no one else would. Noah walked close with God, even when the rest of the world had turned their back on God. The children of Israel as newly freed slaves came to the waters of the Red Sea and were able to stand up against the strongest nation of the world of their time.

Even though a shepherd boy, David was able to stand against the inequities of Saul, bent on holding fast to his monarchy. Shadrach and his friends stood against the fire of Nebuchadnezzar. Daniel stood against the lions and his enemies in high places, Jesus on the cross against the Jewish priests and the Roman governor, and Paul stood before the king of the world as he testified before Nero.

These examples of godly people are not only found in the Bible, but as we search the annals of history, we see that whole groups of people and individuals stood against the ungodliness of their time. The Vaudois, The Huguenots, Wycliffe, and Huss. Jerome, Luther, Tyndale, and Knox along with Zinzendorf and Wesley. These men “witnessed to the power of God’s Word against human power and policy in support of evil. These are the world’s true nobility. This is its royal line” (CC 9.4).

It is in this line that all of us are called to take our place in the time of the end. The question for you today is will you take your place and this line of nobility for God? Will you decide to walk in righteousness with God, no matter what happens around you?

God is calling for men and women in this generation to stand bold for righteousness though the heavens fall.
