Eden

Eden

Genesis 2:15 says, “And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.” When God created the world, He made everything perfect. But He saw fit to create a special garden for Adam and Eve to show His great love toward them.

This garden’s name was Eden, a word that means pleasure. It was in this garden that they were going to spend a portion of their time dressing it, entertaining angels, and listening to their instructions. This garden was to be their home.

It was the design of God that the human beings created to live in this garden would find happiness and the employment of keeping it up. In addition, their wants would be met with the fruit of the trees that they tended.

Many people believe that happiness has a connection with not being productive. But God created human beings even in perfect innocence to be productive in the garden of Eden. The God that created human beings knows exactly how humans can be happy. No sooner than He created human beings, He gave them the responsibility to nurture and care for nature.

The promise of the glory that we can have in the future and the decree that humans should earn their living by the sweat of their brow came from the same throne. God has given all of us a responsibility. God has given us abilities that if we employ those abilities for the benefit of human beings, we can find happiness and service.

So, find a way to serve your fellow man. Find a way to employ your gifts to relieve the suffering and needs of others. And when you work on behalf of others and for their benefit, you’ll see that happiness and a sense of purpose will come to your life.
